Day 7: Valle du Paul Route (01/17/2020)
Valle Du Paul, the secret tropical paradise.
The entire Valle du Paul could define it as a secret tropical paradise, since I am very surprised by the great contrast that the island can offer, the southern area with the most arid landscapes and in the north a tropical area between valleys of great beauty.
It is a valley that has several villages in what you could say is something like a world without cars, many of the small towns or houses that we find during the trek are not accessible by road, nor are they accessible by car. To get there on foot, you have to walk a long way of trails that go up and down, with turns and more turns, in which we see people carrying large bags on their heads, all kinds of objects and food and many of them with flip-flops. Something that certainly draws my attention constantly. At the end of the route we see that it is the time when school should end and we can see how the boys and girls when returning home take advantage of the trip with large bags.
Information about the Valle du Paul trek
I have already advanced a little before the most characteristic of this valley. So now it's time to explain today's route. It is the second in the area for Pako's group and the first for me in the Valle du Paul, since I came a day later.
We make the transfer to the beginning of the route by van. The views that we can see from the road before starting the trek are already spectacular!
It is a trek through the Paul Valley, which you can see the track below:
The track is practically entirely downhill towards the coast, leaving us spectacular views of the entire Paul Valley.
The valley has a warm climate, it is very conducive to agriculture of all kinds such as corn, coffee, sugar cane and cassava.
We must highlight the cultivation of sugar cane, since with the juice obtained by squeezing them the grogue, the national drink of Cape Verde. We will taste this drink at the end of the route in a local distillery.
